Akamai 20Gbit/s upgrade

Akamai will upgrade it’s BCIX connection to 20Gbit/s and will be the first member with a 2*10Gbit/s link aggregated 20Gbit/s connection at BCIX. Akamai has an open peering policy and is also connected to the BCIX route server.

In 2008/2009 ORCO GSG has been rolling out their “Hofnetz”, a dedicated fibre optic network infrastructure. ORCO GSG succeeds in offering professional internet access, line connectivity and data center services for the business tenants at 23 connected locations right now. Since late 2009 the Hofnetz has been connected to 4 data centers through Berlin and will connect to BCIX, 5 more owned locations and 2 additional data centers in the near future.

ORCO-GSG aims to supply ist tenants with State-of-the-Art IP Services and relies on partners to deliver services from connected data centers as well. The supply of cheap connectivity between service providers and tenants is another goal of ORCO-GSG.

The ORCO-GSG Infrastructure development approach delivers commercial spaces connected with highly performant and reliable IP infrastructure at very reasonable prices.

CBXNET / AS12512 peering now

CBXNET – a BCIX founding member – is available now for IPv4 peering at BCIX. We are happy that CBXNET (aka AS12512 aka AS-CBXNET) is now connected at Luetzowstr./L105 and already peering with the BCIX route servers.

The unbelievable Machine Company added a second 1Gbit/s port and has now a total of 2Gbit/s Peering capacity at BCIX.

BCIX Upgrade at e-shelter Berlin

This morning at 5:00 a.m. we activated our new Brocade BigIron RX-8 Switch at e-shelter facility Berlin. Not only, that now have eight 10Gbit/s Ports installed in this location, we also activated our first DWDM system. We’re currently using a 8 channel DWDM system and started with two channels. That means that we now have a 20Gbit/s connection from e-shelter facility to I/P/B/ Carrier-Colo which can easily scaled up to 80Gbit/s without service interruption. Thanks to Steffen David (BCIX) and Mario Apitz (The unbelievable Machine Company) for support.

http.net ( AS12574 ) will upgrade bandwidth at BCIX from 100MBit/s to 1GBit/s. The new port will be installed at BCIX location I/P/B/ (L105).
