We’re happy to announce, that Akamai will be available for peering at BCIX Berlin, soon. Akamai will connect with 10Gbit/s to BCIX and will peer with BCIX route servers, as well.
Today, we are happy to annonce, that ISPpro Internet from Jena/Thuringia is now a new member and will peer at BCIX. ISPpro is a successfull, international operating internet webhosting provider. The unbelievable Machine Company added a second 1Gbit/s port and has now a total of 2Gbit/s Peering capacity at BCIX.
This morning at 5:00 a.m. we activated our new Brocade BigIron RX-8 Switch at e-shelter facility Berlin. Not only, that now have eight 10Gbit/s Ports installed in this location, we also activated our first DWDM system. We’re currently using a 8 channel DWDM system and started with two channels. That means that we now have a 20Gbit/s connection from e-shelter facility to I/P/B/ Carrier-Colo which can easily scaled up to 80Gbit/s without service interruption. Thanks to Steffen David (BCIX) and Mario Apitz (The unbelievable Machine Company) for support.
http.net ( AS12574 ) will upgrade bandwidth at BCIX from 100MBit/s to 1GBit/s. The new port will be installed at BCIX location I/P/B/ (L105).

Packet Clearing House (PCH) wird in Kürze country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) Server am BCIX in Betrieb nehmen. Der neue Nameserver wird direkt am Berliner Internetknotenpunkt BCIX angeschlossen, über den die Internet Provider ihre Daten austauschen. Das bedeutet für Internetnutzer aus der Bundeshauptstadt und Umgebung, deren Provider über BCIX angebunden sind, schnellere Antwortzeiten bei der Auflösung der Internetadressen mit den folgenden, von PCH gehosteten Domains:
