Russian network operator RETN Ltd. upgrades port to 10Gbit/s.
We’re very proud to announce that Google will be available for peering with IPv4 and IPv6 at BCIX Berlin. Google will connect with a 10Gbit/s port and will also peer with the BCIX route servers.

The unbelievable Machine Company added a second 1Gbit/s port and has now a total of 2Gbit/s Peering capacity at BCIX.
This morning at 5:00 a.m. we activated our new Brocade BigIron RX-8 Switch at e-shelter facility Berlin. Not only, that now have eight 10Gbit/s Ports installed in this location, we also activated our first DWDM system. We’re currently using a 8 channel DWDM system and started with two channels. That means that we now have a 20Gbit/s connection from e-shelter facility to I/P/B/ Carrier-Colo which can easily scaled up to 80Gbit/s without service interruption. Thanks to Steffen David (BCIX) and Mario Apitz (The unbelievable Machine Company) for support.
http.net ( AS12574 ) will upgrade bandwidth at BCIX from 100MBit/s to 1GBit/s. The new port will be installed at BCIX location I/P/B/ (L105).

Packet Clearing House (PCH) wird in Kürze country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) Server am BCIX in Betrieb nehmen. Der neue Nameserver wird direkt am Berliner Internetknotenpunkt BCIX angeschlossen, über den die Internet Provider ihre Daten austauschen. Das bedeutet für Internetnutzer aus der Bundeshauptstadt und Umgebung, deren Provider über BCIX angebunden sind, schnellere Antwortzeiten bei der Auflösung der Internetadressen mit den folgenden, von PCH gehosteten Domains:

Die Anbindung an das Wissenschaftsnetz X-WiN des DFN (AS680) wird im Mai 2009 von derzeit 1GBit/s auf 10GBit/s erhöht. Der neue Anschluss erfolgt am BCIX Standort I/P/B/ (L105).
Das Wissenschaftsnetz X-WiN ist die technische Plattform des Deutschen Forschungsnetzes. Über das X-WiN sind Hochschulen, Forschungseinrichtungen und forschungsnahe Unternehmen in Deutschland untereinander, mit den Wissenschaftsnetzen in Europa und auf anderen Kontinenten verbunden. Darüber hinaus verfügt das X-WiN über leistungsstarke Austauschpunkte mit dem allgemeinen Internet. Mit Anschlusskapazitäten bis zu 10 Gigabit/s und einem Terabit-Kernnetz, das sich zwischen ca. 60 Kernnetz-Standorten aufspannt, zählt das X-WiN zu den leistungsfähigsten Kommunikationsnetzen weltweit.

Wir freuen uns sehr, den fünften Neuzugang im Jahr 2009 begrüßen zu dürfen: Die Herbst Datentechnik GmbH wird sich als BCIX e.V. Mitglied mit jeweils 1Gbit/s Bandbreite an den beiden BCIX Standorten Lützowstrasse 105 (L105) und Nonnendammallee 15 (N15) aufschalten.
Die Herbst Datentechnik GmbH ist im Bereich der Netzwerktechnik seit über 14 Jahren der Ansprechpartner für kleine, mittlere und große Unternehmen.
Der öffentliche Teil des Geschäftsberichts 2008/2009 des BCIX e.V., vorgestellt zur Mitgliederversammlung am 26.03.2009, ist jetzt auch online verfügbar.
Hansenet ( AS13184 ) erhöht die Bandbreite am BCIX von derzeit 1GBit/s auf 10GBit/s. Der neue Anschluss erfolgt am BCIX Standort IPB (L105).
