After a long struggle, never losing his positive attitude, his optimism, and his will to live and to work, our friend, partner and colleague Thorleif Wiik passed away on June 25th, 2016 at the age of 46.
With Thorleif BCIX and the internet community lose an outstanding lateral thinker, strategist, and motivator. With his intelligence and his philanthropy he has led us in new directions and promoted Berlin’s position internationally. Connecting people was always more to him than just building networks.
His special gift of sociability in conjunction with the highest level of professional expertise has enriched us all. He was a pioneer for us and he will remain our guide.
Since he was elected as Chief Technical Officer in 2008 BCIX was of particular importance to him. He paved the way for Berlin’s Commercial Internet Exchange and enjoyed its growth.
Our deep and sincere sympathy goes to his family and to his companion Juliane.
With great sadness and gratitude
